The Oast House
The Tall 'Upside-down' Cottage - Visit England Graded 4 Star
Within the grounds of Hidelow House stands a former stone oast house, sympathetically converted into two character holiday cottages, one of which is The Oast House.
The Oast House has its Bedrooms and walk-in Shower Room downstairs; going downstairs to bed provides a fascination which all kids love! There is every modern convenience you would expect to find in a 4 Star cottage; it is carpeted throughout the lounge, dining area and bedrooms and has full central heating.
Following a partial refurbishment of the cottage early in 2009, guests who know The Oast House will be intrigued to learn that we have relocated the entrance on the ground floor underneath the old stone steps (the original entrance to the barn was up these steps, but as they have become rather worn over the last 200 years, we have decided it is time now to keep them just as an ornamental reminder of the past).
Refurbishment of The Oast House continued through 2009 and into 2010 with alterations to the kitchen, dining area, lounge and bathroom.

Bedroom 1 has a Double Four-poster bed;
Bedroom 2 has Twin single beds.(These cannot be linked).
Kitchen/Dining Room
Internally, stairs now lead from the hallway inside the new entrance door up to the vaulted, heavily beamed Kitchen/Dining room on the first floor. The new Kitchen has an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, a new bigger fridge-freezer, microwave etc. and new worktops. The Dining area is equipped with an English oak table and chairs.

Lounge
Two steps up from the dining area, the Lounge comprises the upper part of the old hop kilns. The vaulted frame which used to form 2 outlets for the hot air to escape from the the hop drying kilns, is now a magnificent double divided high ceiling; the lounge has a three piece suite (4-seater corner sofa from Spring 2010), wood-burning stove, 26 inch widescreen TV and DVD/CD player (32 inch HD Ready LCD flat screen TV with integral Freeview and radio, DVD player and Ipod docking station.
Being high on the first floor, the lounge affords the visitor uninterrupted views over the ever-changing rural landscape. The sunsets seen from The Oast House are particularly spectacular.
